Jarick Weldon

I’m Jarick Weldon, a UK-based writer of speculative fiction and screenplays. My work particularly explores questions of agency, intelligence, and survival, often through non-human or marginal perspectives, with a particular interest in how individuals and systems behave under constraint.

After a 30-year career in medicine and science, I completed an MA in Creative Writing with distinction. I am a reader for the Scottish Arts Trust’s Edinburgh Writing Awards, a member of the British Science Fiction Association, and a former associate editor at Fiction on the Web.

I will begin a PhD in Creative Writing in October 2026, developing a collection of speculative short fiction examining representations of non-human animal intelligence and agency under anthropogenic pressure.
